Book Review: Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi

I just read Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi for my Book Club. It’s one of those dystopian books where nothing makes sense until far into the book. It seemed like a fairy tail type book that I thought I wouldn’t enjoy at first, but I quickly became very interested in all the characters and what they were doing. The main characters are Alice Alexis Queensmeadow and Oliver Newbanks. Alice is a girl in a city/country called Ferenwood, which is a city that basically thrives on color. She, however, is born with NO COLOR PIGMENT AT ALL. The plot of the  book is that years before her father left with only a ruler. The pair search for Alice’s father, and run into lots of trouble on the way. I really loved this book, and I rate it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

Book Review: Almost Home by Wendy Lawton

For school I read a book called Almost Home by Wendy Lawton. It is about a 13-year-old Pilgrim coming to America on the Mayflower. The book focuses on the struggle and hardships that the Pilgrims have to face, and how they still believed in God through it all. The main character, Mary Chilton, is based off a real girl who was on the Mayflower. The book includes the real happenings on the Mayflower, such as the baby boy born during the ride, named Oceanus, and the mischievous Billington boys. And of course, Squanto and Samoset. Overall it was a GREAT book, and I give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
