Kunai

A few times I’ve posted pictures of Kunai, our new (Well… we got him in January LAST year, but compared to the 8 years we’ve had Ibon, he seems new.) parakeet. Ever since we got him he’s been visiting our 10 8 (😭) zebra finches, so we’ve been keeping him friendly from the start (unlike Ibon). Kunai always goes around feeding the finches like they’re his little babies, but really they’re all a few years older than him. He’s the baby of the 10 birds we have. He also really loves Ibon. They always converse from different rooms, and he runs up to her whenever she appears. He likes to sit next to her and stare at her lovingly, while Ibon just leans back and stares at Kunai like he personally offended her. Kunai is constantly being put into the finches’ cage, Ibon’s cage, and basically he just tends to travel around the house wherever Ibon is going (Yes, I let them free-range around my room if not the whole house). Surprisingly, Kunai didn’t mind a camera up in his face (This is AFTER I lured him over to the camera with a stick of millet spray). Usually he’s so shy he won’t let a stray feather go near him! Nevertheless, he LOVES attention so much.

He’s very wary of the camera slowly inching towards him.

Still cautiously staying away from the camera. I had it on the highest zoom.

He keeps peeking up at it.

He finally didn’t mind it too much.

He became separated from his beloved millet by my dad who came over to pick him up.

Fluff those pretty feathers!

There was a woodpecker on our front porch he became very interested (and intimidated) by.

He hopped back down onto the finches’ cage. If you give him millet, he’ll basically stick to it like glue until it’s out of sight.

This one I put it on the self timer, because it beeps in rhythm to the countdown. He thinks he’s a finch (100% imitates the beepy little finch sounds. We always think he’s one of them just by the sound!), so he started beeping back at it which is why he’s actually looking at the camera.

He became so lost in Happyland because of the millet, he didn’t mind me putting the camera right up in his face.

The woodpecker came back.

You can count on Kunai to clean of every single seed in 2 minutes flat (almost).

This is the one that turned out the best. He looks so happy!
