Meet Ibon: My Reformed Birdy
If you’ve been reading my previous posts, you’ll have read about Ibon, my 8-year-old parakeet… and how she is a killer, (R.I.P Tweet Tweet 😦 ) mean, and an crotchety old thing. She is now the sweetest thing ever!! I can now proudly tell people that I trained my bird, now known as my “Pocket Birdy.” I tend to slip her into my pocket everywhere I go. Have no fear, parakeets are naturally cliff-dwelling birds, and like to burrow into cozy spaces, such as a pocket.
Yesterday I took her into the pantry under our basement stairs, because she keeps following me in there (ahem, banging into the door until I open it and I just HAVE to because she’s so sweet) and I decided it would be a great opportunity for pictures.
She kept pecking at the metal shelves because it was all clangy.
I used the multi-frame setting on my camera (it doesn’t have flash when I use multi-frame, and there is only 1 light in the closet).
This is the only one that turned out looking decent. Oh, well.
Look how fluffy and CUTE she is!!!
This is the only self-timer one that turned out okay, because every time I started the timer it would start beeping and she would go way up close and peek over to the screen. Luckily she stuck her head in at the last second.
Oh, and I should mention: while we were doing a photo shoot under the stairs, she flew into the big pot we have that catches drips in the ceiling. She’s fine, but it was slightly traumatic for her to be bathed afterwards (the water was dirty).

DPP Day 2
2nd Day of Christmas: Two Turtledoves
My crotchety old bird used to be very well avoided in my house (even known as a murderer. R.I.P. Tweet Tweet) until I started training her! Now, she can hang out with my brother’s bird (Kunai) unattended.

My 11th B-Day Party
On Saturday I had my 11th birthday. It wasn’t actually my birthday then, though. I invited 11, yes, 11 other girls to come. 8 of them came, but that’s still a lot of extra people in our small house! We made sure to get LOTS of pictures. I did a (non) murder mystery party using a Shot In The Dark Mystery Kit. SPOILER ALERT: If you are planning to use one of these murder mysteries, (I used Mystery in the Library. Same as Murder in the Library just no murdering) DO NOT READ THIS POST.
We all headed downstairs to the scene of the crime: the “Library.”
THE SUSPECTS
My friend as Carson Vulpes. She won Best Costume award!! Like our mugshot background? We used poster board, Sharpie, stencils, and electrical tape (And we bought crime scene tape on Oriental Trading).
Me as Tara Miller.
My friend as Julian Lynch.
My friend as Todd Bartley.
My friend as Janet Kritch. I don’t know what’s up with that weird half blink.
You can’t read it very well, but this is my friend as Paige Zimmerman.
My friend as Clinton Weaver. Her character doesn’t like mine, so she kept saying, “That pesky Tara Miller!”
She blinked. This is my friend as Azura Rose.
My friend as Elisebeth.
After the mugshots it was time to start mingling to gather info on each others characters to solve the mystery on who stole the Sardonic Manuscript and left an origami fox.
The scene of the crime. DUN DUN DUN.
And the fox the culprit left in place of the stolen book. I’m pretty savvy with origami, huh? 😛
Before the party I did some decorating. I made a board of library events,
a board of community events,
I put a magnifying glass on the word “mystery” in our huge dictionary,
went to the thrift store and found a John F. Kennedy bust and a candelabra,
taped footprints around the floor inside and out,
and I set up a table with accusation forms, pencils, and name tags.
After we all cast our accusations, we went upstairs to eat dinner.
I made some chocolate-covered pretzels and bought some Swedish Fish (red herrings. Haha) for snacks. We ate chips, hot dogs and potato salad as the actual meal, though. At this point my dad and brother came out of their hiding place in a bedroom.
Next, it was time for the BIG REVEAL to see who was culprit and who guessed it right. (We also handed out prizes). The audio file that announced the culprit started hinting towards Carson Vulpes, and everyone started looking his (her) direction. (She looks so nervous, like, “It is so going to be me.” kind of nervous.
And then, BOOM. It announced that Carson Vulpes did it. Let’s just say it got LOUD when we all found out. She was quite happy to be the culprit, and pretty proud of it. But look at her face!!!
Next it was time for CAKE and ICECREAM! It was a seriously delicious cake. After cake I opened my presents and then us girls headed back to the library to play (and roughhouse) with each other until their parents picked them up. All in all, it was the BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY EVER!

Entertaining Myself in Chilly October
We are on break right now, so I don’t have much I need to do. I have found many ways to keep myself entertained, however. First off, Minecraft (of course!). I’ve been building a city on single-player, and playing with people on 2 servers. Click here to see pics of my city. And feel free to subscribe!! I also got the new WOW: 2018 CD on release date. So on top of never turning off my radio, I’ve been listening to my favorites on the CD (and a few other CDs). It comes with two discs. My favorite on disc 1 is probably Thy Will by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family. And on disc 2 there is no question about it: Priceless by For King and Country. Me and my little brother LOVE For King and Country! It’s kind of annoying that he won’t stop listening to Fix My Eyes though. Oh, well. Still those 3 songs I just mentioned can’t top Warrior by Hannah Kerr and The Comeback by Danny Gokey. Huh. My favorite songs: Warrior, The Comeback, and Overcomer. There’s a bit of a connection there, do you see it? 😛 I also like Ryan Stevenson (I went to his concert!! It was one of the funnest things I’ve EVER done!)(Eye of the Storm, The Gospel, Fresh Start), Jordan Feliz (The River, Best of Me, Beloved), and Hollyn (Alone, In Awe). Ok, enough talk about music or we could be here all day (no exaggeration there). Me and my mom recently went to the thrift store and came back with some books for me to read. I’ve been reading The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan. That’s the 3rd book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Remember me mentioning my pet parakeet awhile ago? And how she killed my other one? We haven’t put her with any bird since the uh, incident. After a couple years of training, she can (as of a week and a half ago) happily and non-aggressively interact with my little brother’s parakeet (Kunai). Ibon (my bird FYI) also will fly onto my shoulder the second I enter the room and will stand on my finger with out chewing it off. I can also kiss her without worrying about being attacked. Oh, and I almost always have a cup of hot milk tea next to me. 🙂
My tea, book, and music.
My now very friendly birdie.
And how could I forget?? We made a scarecrow out of one of my dad’s old shirts, one of my dad’s old pair of jeans, twine, newspaper, brown paper, inflatable packing things, my brother’s (and mine) old rainboots, a jack-o-lantern trick-or-treat bucket, some rocks (to weigh down the head), and an old cowboy hat we’ve had for 6 years.
Our scarecrow. Every now and then we think it’s a person on our porch!
I’ve also been working on making a costume for Halloween. I’m going as Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Rey.
I’ve also been occupied with my Taekwondo class, but that’s all for now, and please subscribe!! 😀

December Photo Project Day 23
I Read A Book; Or A Hundred
One of my 2016 New Year’s Goals was to read 100 books. I used Goodreads to scan and log what I read. Me and my mom did the math, and my deadline was yesterday. I just now got done logging them! I am holding Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days because the last book I logged was was Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever but I don’t have it from the library right now.
I do tend to leave my braid up for about two to three days though.
